Because, if we're not "mean" sometimes our kids will try to walk all over us. But, you have to realize that we're not trying to be "mean" we are trying to teach our children how to behave and how to be a productive member of society. After all, if we don't teach it then who will?

Sometimes parents just have so much frustration, and it comes out as anger. Unfortunately, there are just some people out there that are real jerks. I don't know your family, so I can't say one way or the other. Are your parents under a lot of stress? Is there financial or relationship problems that they are trying to deal with? There could be a lot of reasons why they are acting angry. However, if you feel that you are being abused, either verbally or physically, you need to get help from a teacher or school counselor. Good Luck!

Parents don't want to be mean, but at times there is no other recourse but to be mean to get the point across. It's not easy being a parent. Parents do not want to see their kids fail or get around people who will bring them down. Of course you may want to ask yourself what did you do to make them so mean. God gives us kids to raise and one day we have to let you go but we hope when that time comes we have raised you to be a good moral upstanding person. We only want what is right for you.

Parents are mean sometimes because they are so afraid of their children not turning out to be a good person. And thats mostly the reason they do what they do. Take care Heather

Parents are still people. My parents can be mean too, but its only because they're angry, just like anyone else. People dont really mean to say something mean. Usually they're just upset and trying to show they're hurt.

You might be mistaking "mean" for disciplinary actions because of something you did. Parents usually want what's best for their kids, so be patient with them and obey the rules.

They were not respected when they were young.

They didn't learn it, so I would encourage you to break the cycle and start looking around what it means to be respectful because you won't learn it from them either. Make the world a better place.

Good luck!

Because they love you.

Because you have pushed them and frustrated them to the point where they lose control.

Because that's how they were raised and that's all they know.

Because sometimes making things easy for children is not the best way for them to grow and learn.

If they do something for your best interest, it is tough love. If they are just mean for no reason, the are taking out their crappy life on you.
