From my personal experiences, no. My husband was not ever a best friend. We lived in 2 different towns and just happen to meet online. We talked for a month or so and met at a mall. He already had a little baby with another woman (she left him when she found out she was pregnant). I think that phrase really comes from your spouse becomes your best friend because now, he is my best friend, but he wasn't when I first married him.

Yes it can be. But no that's not always the case. What a great world it would be and oh how we could drop the divorce rates nationally and world wide if best friends married. Why? Because you're the best friend of him or her and you know so much about each other's lives and such your likes and disslikes and all of it so the only thing left to do is marry that friend and spend life together making each other happy and living married too. Maybe even some kids in there too. Sigh. I hope to meet a girl like that some day and marry my best friend.

No. But it's true that people who do marry their best friend are usually the happiest because they know what to expect from each other.

I guess it could be true but I think that people usually marry they're friend not necisserily(sp???) they're best friend because you wouldn't want to marry somebody who isn't your friend and you'll have to spend the rest of your life

Not true at all...proven by the divorce statistics....however, your mate should be THE best friend for a lasting relationship.
