It's nearly impossible, and completely illegal.

It doesn't sound like you make a great deal of money - check in your state if you are eligible for Medicare or Medicaid. Considering the severity of your back problems (sounds like you have sciatica too) you may need to go on disability for awhile. If you are ineligible then you should sign up for free care. This will most likely mean you'll have to wait in an E.R. to see a doctor (unless you know of free clinics in your area), but at least you'll be able to find out more and possibly get X-rays. There are some clinics that allow you to pay on a sliding scale system dependent on your income, too. You'll have to make some phone calls Monday & Tuesday. I wouldn't even attempt going about getting prescription medication illegally. Not only is it easy to get caught, it's far more expensive than most anyone can pay steadily. Painkillers on the street can be around $6 - $15 a pop and since they are not monitored by a doctor they may be: a. A placebo (believe me, the people selling these things don't want to sell their real ones, if they have any), or b. Poisoned. Don't doubt it. I've seen it happen in my neighborhood.

Should you get caught you would face jail time and a strike on your record that may make you ineligible for other jobs in the future. Also, you may not need painkillers as such, but medications for arthritis (possibly) and sciatica (pain running from your very lower back, down your rear and into the side/back of your leg). Please, Charles, make some phone calls to Medicare/Medicaid and go to an E.R. for a diagnosis (fill out a free care form first). Also visit or call the Social Security Administration in your area. They will be able to tell you whether or not you can apply for disability. Remember, you can work nearly full-time on disability, but you cannot make more than a certain amount. A worker there will help you with any forms and questions. (Don't get discouraged - it can be a long wait at SSA so plan for a whole day). As for a free care form, you'll need to look up the number for free care in your area and they will give you a form to fill out immediately.

If anyone offers you meds online, I can almost guarantee you will not be getting what you expect and/or it will cost more than paying into a Medicare part B or D plan.

Best of luck to you.

yes I think you should really see a dr. My husband had lower back pain radiating down his leg and he found out he had ruptured a disc and also had sciatic pain. I'm sure you can find a clinic that charges according to your income. My husband got an epidural injection and he is fine now. Good luck
