I recently went to Dillon Beach in CA, and at low tide the rocks are covered in Mussels. Are they safe to consume once they are steamed or should they be avoided??? Thanks!!!

I wouldn't eat them. The ones from the jetty, the large pile of rocks stretching out from dillon beach, are not that appetizing.

U need to be careful about oil spills etc. They should be ok if u cook them well done. Whenever in doubt about the quality of the foods make sure they are well done. I normally say that an amoeba is ok if it is well done.
