how do you uninstall programs on your computer that have been corrupted in the middle of the install process?

i tried to install the game ICEWIND DALE on my windows 2000 pro on feb 17, but the program stopped the install half way through and closed down the install feature. i cannot delete the game from regular methods such as ADD/ Remove programs, uninstall feature or delete it from my program files. I really need help on this. nothing works when i try it. I need help from somebody who knows how to help me counteract my problem so that i can reinstall the game. And thank you very much to those who are going to try and help me on this issue.

i have also tried to manually delete it from my programs in safe mode what bdo i do next

Do this

CTRL+ALT+Delete - Pressing these keys all together bring up windows task manager. Go to processes, then click on user name, it will sort all of the programs you installed. Find the program that you want to uninstall, then click end process. If you can't find it, do this.

Start - Run - MSCONFIG. Go to services tab, check the box titled hide all microsoft services, then uncheck all of the remaining boxes. Then, go to startup (last tab I think) and uncheck all of those. Then, re-boot your computer, and try the following. Note: onec you succeed, you need to go back and check all of those boxes, so your programs come back up and running.

. My Computer (depending on your OS, your My Computer icon could possibly be on your desktop)

. Local Disc C:

. Program Files

. Find the folder that relates to the program you installed. But note: if you can't find it, it might be under a different name. For example, I have kerio personal firewall, but in program files, It is in the folder lavasoft, since it is made by lavasoft.

. Once you find the folder, right click and delete it. Empty your recycle bin

. Go back to add/remove programs, and when you try to uninstall it, an error will come up, click yes, and it will be removed from the list.


Now, you can do wahever you want.

Try running the installer again, it may allow you to remove the game.

I don't understand why it wouldn't allow you to delete it, but if it's saying a certain file cannot be removed, go into the folder and try to work around that file. Delete as much of it as you can.

Head over to start > run > 'regedit'

Tab down to hkey_current_user -> software -> 'icewind' (or whatever it's named -- might be under the companies name) and remove any registry values for that game. Make sure you DO NOT TOUCH THE REGISTRY OF ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE IT IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

try to install it again in safe mode ...start/run type msconfig then choose general box check on diagnostic and re start ur computer then try to install ur game ...
