It's okay to be nervous at death because it is the unknown. So, yes, I imagine a part of me will be nervous if the death process is slow and drawn out.

I am an agnostic/atheist type, and I am not afraid to die. I actually do think that there is some other consciousness, or a higher state of existence, or something interesting and OK like that - I am just of the belief that not a person on earth knows what it is yet. I think it is ridiculous that so many human beings have stopped wondering and seeking because they think it's written in the bible. It most certainly is not, IMHO.
By the way, the God you worship does this to people as punishment? That is a God I can't support, sorry.

I don't care what your scripture says. If I thought I was going to be nervous when I die, then I wouldn't be Atheist right?
No, I won't be nervous when I die. I have no reason to be. I know I have no god that might send me to hell for any reason at all, but Christians do. I bet you are going to be nervous when you die.

I doubt I will be able to feel "nervous" when I am dead. There is no evidence that supports that anyone feels anything after they are dead. Why do you believe this interpretation of scripture over evidence?

I think that death is the end of consciousness, so I am not afraid of it. It is as natural a part of life as birth, sex, eating, breathing, etc. Now, will I be nervous when I am actually on the verge of death? Probably, but who knows? I hope that I will be peacefully asleep and not aware of it or in pain.

Do you think someone like yourself could possibly come up with an original opinion instead of repeating scripture, quoting the bible, or spewing spoon-fed nonsense?
Your argument is not based on FACT, which you prove by your statement, "Scripture says..."
When you can come up with a truly thought provoking question get back to me.

Why would I be nervous...when my brain dies, I will cease to exist in any form. I don't care what scripture says, the notion that there is any consciousness after death is absurd.

I don't believe there is any such thing as a true athiests. God gave every individual an innate awareness of His existence; that is why Genesis made no attempt to prove it: it was assumed that no one would be foolish enough to question the existence of a Creator. Infact, Psalms 14:1 declared that "the fool hath said in his heart there is no God".
The evidence of a Creator abounds and no one, if they are honest, can deny this. However, one of our biggest sins is pride. It was pride which lead to Lucifers fall from grace, and it is pride which motivates a man to deny God. On judgement day, there will be pride in the moronic denial of God.

Midge, odds are we are both going to find out.
From what I understand, our brains will give us a rather spectacular hallucinatory show when it finally shuts down, see the numerous near-death-experience tales.
Personally, I think religious people are way more obsessed with death than atheists; they are so scared of it that they invented a plethora of afterlife stories.

how can you "feel" death....when you're dead? You know, it allows you to preview the question before submitting it?
No, I won't be nervous at all. Why would I be? I won't be alive, I won't KNOW that I'm dead...since I'm dead. I don't know when I'm going to die, so how can I be nervous before I die. I'm not a psychic.
