Yes, if you hold the trimmers correctly. The flat side should be facing the dog's foot with the cutting blade facing you so you can see where it lines up on the dogs nail.
However, if your dog has really long nails and they are very black and you can not see the "quick" then this may cause the dog a lot of pain. If you cut the quick, it will hurt a lot and the dog may bleed all over. do that even once and the dog will fight you from then on over getting the nails done.
If the nails are really long, you either have to take off small pieces ever week until you get them cut back to where you want them or use Drummel tool and grind the toe nail back slowly.
If you take it slow, you can avoid the quick. Make sure you do not grind too fast or too hard and make the nail hot. If it smokes as you are doing it, you are push too hard and going too fast.

Yes! You stick the part of the nail through the hole that you want to be cut. If your dogs nails are a light color, you will see a darker line, this is called the quick - and you have to avoid cutting that it you can, or else the pup will bleed.
Usually leave at least 2 mm or so from the quck on a light colored nail :)
Cut dark colored nails in several small cuts to reduce the chance of cutting into the quick.

you don't want to cut off too much. the clippers are flat on one side. Hold up the dogs paw. with the flat side up on the clippers place the nail into the hole and the flat part of the clippers against the pad of the paw that this nail is coming out of. the clippers should follow the flat part of the pad. Now clip off the nail that is in the clippers. If you cut off too much you will cut a vain at the base of the nail causing it to bleed and it will hurt the dog. hope this helps.=~)

Yes, but don't do too much otherwise you can cause injury to the dog. Take off a little at a time. You can then file the nails which are safer. Cut off only the tip of the nail and file the rest.

yes put the tips in. if you look ath the nail there is a dark line going down them this is blood if you snnip them to low it will bleed this isnt painfull but is a bit messy and will soon stop best thing to judge how short to clip them is to do it just before this starts. put the tip of the nail through the hole and then snip you do have to use quite a bit of pressure if the nails are thick.
the hardest thing is normally getting the dog to sit still. hope this is helpfull to you.

yes...and if you are unsure..PLEASE take it to the groomer or vet to have it's nails clipped. if the nails are white, it is fairly easy to see what you are doing. if they are black, there are a few things to look for..
clear nails...you can see the pink area in the dogs claws..that is the quick, and it is just like ours. leave 1/2 inch from the quick when cutting.
If black nails, trim tiny bits at a time and look for the black area withing the end of the nail. when it starts to fill in the center of the area, stop trimming.
BEFORE you attempt to cut your dog's nails, go to a pet store and buy what is called Quick stop. if you cut too deep and it bleeds, put the quick stop on the end of the nail.

Yes just be sure not to put the nail too far in ther or you might cause the animal to bleed no cause for alarm you didnt hurt it but too far down could scare the animal aways from the clippers for good!
GOOD LUCK! :D

I really suggest you throw that thing in the trash, and get a regular trimmer. Those suckers pop open all the time.
