I like the friends I hang out with but not their second hand smoke. We discussed the matter and they dont mind if I wear a gas mask when I am with them. No need to say this is a little rough on the social scene. I have to approach gals carefully, one called a cop once. The guys whisper "Al Qaida maybe" and I have to yell back
"no health nut you gross polluter" One smoking grandma said "I feel for you, it must be worst than a Burkha." I like my friends but cant decide what to do. Should I take the mask off or stop going to the bar?

Show me some real scientific research that shows secondhand smoke causes a measurable increase in cancer that has been verified.

Coming into a smokers bar and calling a smoker a gross polluter is just wrong. It would be like me going to your church then calling all the parishioners infidels because they dont conform to my beliefs.

If ya cant stand the smoke, stay outta the bar or at least be polite. There are smoke-free venues everywhere, use them.

i used to smoke; but had to give it up. pain in the throat. my suggestion is, go to a bar that has an upstairs patio or deck for smokers where smoking inside isn't prohibited. otherwise you may consider picking up the habbit. since it's second hand you get anyway consider roll-ups! it's cheaper than buying ones w/ filters and the same as smoking second hand! otherwise ditch the mask.
