At a recent visit to hospital after an accident in work the doc told me i had flat feet. How can this affect me in the future? Both my feet/ankles click and pop alot and can be very stiff in the morning or if they are in the same position for long time..

When I get out of the bath I leave a whole footprint.... and yes i'm proud!.... yep I'm totally flat footed, my other half calls them freaky feet.... They've always been flat, I tried insole arches and they are too uncomfortable to walk in, the only trainers i can wear are Nike as the inner arches arn't too high or too hard, I dont have problems with other joints in my body due to walking differently to others, not yet anyway and i'm 'middle aged' as they say and a bit overweight, so it may not cause any problems if you're lucky, clicking and popping feet and ankles sound like a bone structure thing going on.

I have flat feet and unfortunately it has helped to cause problems for me in my knees due to the way they make me walk. It causes my knees to go inwards. So far I have had 4 ops on my knees to get the knee caps to go back on line and I am constantly doing exercises to get my leg muscles to tighten and keep my knee cap in position.

They also can affect me when I walk a long distance, I get pains in my shins. I have found that if I wear trainers with full support inside them I can reduce the amount of pain I get in my shins.

You can see a chiropodist who will make you special insoles for your shoes which can help to make you walk correctly and thus removing the stress from other joints. Perhaps if you ask your doctor he may send you to see a specialist.

Hope this helps :-)))

in the future you may have problems with pain in your heel or the ball of the foot . orthapidic insoles may help but they dont come cheap. over the counter products may look good but there is nothing like the real thing. i spent almost £200 getting insoles made just for me . think how much time you spend each day on your feet and work out the cost per minute then ask yourself -- is it worth it .
