This morning, he was completely unconcence. He was shaking his legs as if he was trying to get up, even though he was not. We took him to the vet right away but died.. We never got to see the vet but we want to know what was wrong with him. Was he having a stroke/seizure?

What kind of a vet doesn't tell the owner why their dog died?

Good Lord!I would contact the vet and ask for a diagnosis and/or an autopsy. Especially if it was a young, normally healthy dog.

I'm sorry for your loss.

It could have been a lot of things but if he was 11 yrs old ,he was getting on up in age .Depending on the other signs and symptoms ,we can only guess.I bet that vet shows up for the Billing. If he was dead on arrival he can't know without "Nartopsy" They are not cheep but if you want the correct Answer have the "Nartopsy Done"So very sorry for your loss!!!!Vet might have been saving another Dog,surely he was not that stupid, vets know how we feel about our family members.Blame will not bring your dog back.Have that procedure done and then you will know if it was illness ,poison, choking, seizure etc.You might save any other Pet that you might have in the future. My heart goes out to You!!!!

OMG!!! I am SOOO sorry for your loss. yes, it could have been either of those things but also consider the dog might have gotten poisoned or eaten something toxic. (mouse/roach bait...antifreeze....household chemicals???)
Best to call the vet office back.. I am sure they have (or should have) done testing to find out what might have caused it.
Again, I am so sorry for you.
