Why would anyone want to get close to god? That dude seems a little whacked, with his smiting this and that, drowning all them people and animals and giving a rainbow to replace them. getting pissed because people get a little artsy and craft a figure of a bull.. destroying Sodom and the like he probably has that dude Lot that had sex with his daughters already sitting next to him. because Lot was rightious.

That would not be a loving God would it? When you die you are not going straight to heaven or hell....you are asleep until Jesus comes. The dead do not know anything (Ps 6:5) When Jesus comes He will bring His reward with Him.....eternal death or eternal life....(Rev 22:12) There are 2 resurrections....the good people unto the resurrection of life and the wicked unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28,29) Now, if the dead were already in heaven or hell....why would Jesus need to raise them?? The first resurrection is when Jesus comes. (1 Thess 4:15,16) which is for the righteous. The second resurrection is after the 1000 years and is for the wicked. (Rev. 20:5) and THAT is when the the devil and all the wicked will be burned up. (Rev. 20:8-10) Even then....God is so loving and merciful that He will not make them be burning through eternity for all their loved ones to watch but will only burn until they are BURNED UP....the RESULTS are for eternity. Here is PROOF that the wicked will not be burning forever. Mal. 4:1-3 ...they will be burned up...turned to ashes....that is not continually burning. Ps. 37:10...the wicked will not BE....if they burned forever they would BE. Ps 37:20....the wicked shall perish...they shall consume away. Matthew 25:46 says that the wicked will go into everlasting punishment....not punishing forever...but the results of the punishment is everlasting. Ezek 28:17,18 Satan himself will be consumed to ashes. Isa. 47:14 The fire will burn itself out and there will not even be a coal to warm at. Ob. 16 The wicked shall be as though they had not been. So, yes, God WILL wipe away all tears and Mia can enjoy herself in heaven.

I guess with your question you're trying to get people to feel sad that one might forget or not care that her mother is in hell. And right now, I would be upset if my mother died and I thought she was not saved.
That said...I know that this is human emotion and my love for my mother...no matter how strong is an imperfect love. God, on the other hand, loves my mother more then I do and perfectly. He loves her so much that he will allow her to choose hell because he gave her free will and she can do as she wants. It hurts him, but he is perfect love, perfect mercy and perfect justice. So, I trust him with my family members...I know that the only people in hell will be the ones who chose to be there.
I think the glory of God in heaven will be so amazing, we will finally be the beings we were created to be by our loving God. So, if Mia is there and her Mom is not...then I would trust God knows what he is doing.

If this is your idea of a joke, it's in pretty poor taste. There are many of us who are heartbroken because we know that a loved one probably wasn't saved and didn't enter Heaven. We know that when we go to Heaven, God will wipe away our tears, but in the meantime, we work hard to see to it that no one goes to Hell.
And if this is a hypothetical situation, then yes, we will be resigned to the fact that our loved ones are not with us. That, or God may simple remove all memory of them from our minds so that we are free to enjoy Heaven without sorrow.
On the off chance that this is a real story, please tell your friend Mia that no one knows what happens in the last moments before death. We know that God is merciful and compassionate, and only in eternity will we know how many people were saved from Hell in the last seconds of their lives.

first off being a christian has nothing to do with some special prayer. there are no magic words that make a person a christian and save a person from hell .
there is a well known faith and practice of faith in life that combined with the grace of God as shown to us by the sacrifice of God with the live and death of His SON make for a route to heaven . the only route.
as for your mother in law well unless the person believed that Jesus was the son of God and confessed her sins and repented of them she will end up in hell.
you can comfort this daughter by telling her that at this time the mother is dead. no thought no fear nothing . it is only after the raising of the dead and the final judgment that a person ends up in hell. that's about all the comfort there is really .

There are a number of questionable assumptions in your question. But I think you raise a good point about the traditional view of Heaven and Hell. A not so popular view is known as annihilationism. This theory claims that unsaved people do not suffer in Hell when they die. They just languish in oblivion for all eternity. However, as far as the blessed in heaven are concerned, they might just need to have a stiff upper lip instead of being disappointed about their unworthy relatives that did not make it. We all have free will and make our own choices. In the words of CS Lewis, there are two kinds of people in this world; those who say to God, "thy will be done" and those to whom God says, "thy will be done."

We are connected to one another in the flesh and in this reality. In heaven we will be connected entirely in the spirit within a different reality. This life will no longer be important just as living in a mother's womb is no longer important after being born. The reality if the womb is not a reality anymore and living outside the womb has become the reality. In heaven this world will no longer have importance or reality.

Ole' Jesus claims that in heaven, all tears will be wiped away and all things will be made new. As human individuals we must have memory of our past experiences for our lives to have any meaning to us personally. If your memories were taken away, the person you were would cease to exist to you, so conscious memory of who you are (self-realization) is what gives your life true meaning.
Will you maintain your self-realization and memories in heaven? Not if you plan on having a life with no pain or suffering. Who we are is based on our past life experiences, both joyful and painful, and the memory of a painful experience causes a re-living of the pain that memory involved. To live a life of no suffering would require that all memory of suffering be erased. Who you were would have to be altered drastically in order for you to never suffer again. The person you know yourself to be right now could not exist in heaven. And what good does it do you to live for an eternity in harmony and peace if you can't remember your life experiences, the beauty of diversity, or the exquisite pleasures of the full spectrum of human experiences because you have lost awareness of who you were as an individual?

An interesting question.
Say her mother went to hell. She was not saved.
She went to heaven. Now heaven is supposed to be a place of happiness.
So you might think she goes looking for her mother. She finds out that her mother isn't there. This causes pain and sorrow.
This causes crying. No! You won't go looking for your mother.
You won't even think about her if she doesn't make it.
It will not enter your mind.
No sorrow no pain no crying. You don't make it, no one is going to think about you.

Is there a heaven and hell? How can I praise a lord who has only brought me such suffering? Religion- the art of exclusion and acts that require redemption. Amen.
