I have lived in Atlanta most of my life. I moved away a couple years ago for work, but will probably move back there sometime in the future. If you are confined to the downtown area (no car) there is a lot to do. It all depends on what you like. There are great restaurants in Buckhead and Midtown. There are tourist attractions like Underground Atlanta, Coke Museum, Zoo Atlanta, Aquarium (known to be one of the best in the world), and all sorts of other things. There are museums (High Museum of arts, Fernbank natural history), plays (Fox Theatre, Shakespeare Tavern, and a lot of other small ones), The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and a whole lot more cultural things. If partying is your thing, there are a lot of bars for all likes and types through the area. They range from small hole in the walls to dance clubs, to "adult" places, hip hop, and so no. There is the Atlanta Brewing Company and Sweetwater that also offer tours with beer tasting. This is basically an excuse for a lot of people to get together and drink. There are sports venues of pro, minor league, and college. And to answer your question, yes there are great malls. Lenox and Phipps Plaza are in Buckhead (north Atlanta) along with a number of great restaurants, hotels, and bars. Perimeter mall is a little further north and very good as well.

Now if you have transportation, the Metro Atlanta area is very diverse. You have the Mall of Georgia up north of the city, Stone Mountain, and a lot of other things to do. The city has as much or as little as you are willing to put into it. Basically, I like Atlanta a lot. It has almost anything you would want from a major city, but it still has trees and greenspace downtown. You should go there, you will have a lot of fun.

Of course I have , it was great too ! See originally I am from Columbus ,Ga . grew up in Fl , but spent every summer there since I was a kid , so I have visited a few relatives there . I loved driving in Atlanta , but I only drove there 4 times . Once there was a huge pile of brush in my lane , talk about scared my 14 month old baby was in the back seat Luckily other drivers were aware of my problem and made room for me to get through okay (thank God), as far as i could see every one behind me got around too . An then once I was leaving South Carolina going to Atlanta and it rained so hard I couldn't see cars(semis) in front of me , I was so scared I prayed the whole way while my Aunt drank beer and slept the whole way . But we arrived alive ! Once again thank God! Other than driving in the rain and through brush Atlanta was amazing ! I loved the hills !

the malls are ok, if they're not old, there's a bunch of stores there (and a bunch of hookers) watch out!!! The Aquarium's ok (not as good as Ripley's in Gatlinburg, Tennessee), and the Coca- Cola thing and Olympic Park are right next to it. Stay off the streets!
