Is there a such thing as a special victims unit in the uk?? Its a police department that deals with sex crimes, crimes involving children etc. I was just wondering if people who have been raped are just dealt with by normal police??

all police forces have units within them. most have a child protection unit and a seperate one for sexual assault victims.

the officers, usually female, are specially trained to deal with the victims, and are usually CID officers. a pc might take the initial report but a CID officer would do the statement, either at home or at the station.
most stations have a seperate area for rape victims which is a bit more "homely" and less intimidating than an interview room, which has the facilities for a medical exam.

Now these disgusting crimes are on the increase the police I believe have set up various units to deal with the said victims. I sincerely hope they get all the help they deserve.
