Losing pounds? Just start running and or cycling. Forget walking or the treadmill etc. at the gym -- get outside. Try hard. Don’t just pussyfoot along; go all out and make some kind of goals.
A specific exercise for butt, thighs, and abs?
Well, I'm a bicycle racer and have awesome butt thighs and abs. So do all bicycle racers. So, get a bicycle.
At home step-ups are great. Just step up on a chair and made certain you do NOT push off with the other leg, just squeeze your muscles on the way up.
Lunges are great too.
Abs – start doing crunchers while watching TV everyday and you won’t even notice that an hour has gone by. Leg raises are good too – just lie on your back, and lift your legs straight up, over and over. Experiment with different angles and focus on *squeezing* your muscles without using momentum.
I say, join up with a sport, then you can have fun and get the body you want too. Just exercising for the sake of exercise is pretty boring. Eat better foods too. Whole unhighly processed food is the way to go.

ok well you can't lose weight in certain sections... when you lose weight you will lose it all over your body. You can however lose it and then build up those certain muscles to make them look tone. For your butt and thighs try biking... it's a great workout... It's my favorite thing to do in the summer. As far as abs do workouts that require good balance... right now with it being winter I snowboard and I get an awesome abs workout. And take it SLOW... try to lose 2 lbs a week. More than that and you run the risk of getting it back plus it's unhealthy. Anyways I hope this helps.
