I am going with AFS (American Field Service) to one of these countries, however I can't make up my mind. what would you recommend? Have you been to any of these countries? Please tell me how it was, thanks.

I've been to all three. It depends on your taste and other factors.

1) Where you are to spend most of your time? If you are in the main city (Quito, vs Santiago, vs Buenas Aires). BA is by far the best bet if you are after a cosmopolitan lifestyle with beautiful people and exciting nightlife. Quito is fun too, but less 'European'. Smoggy Santiago is my least favourite, but a neat city nontheless.
Argentina/Chile are very 'western', Ecuador is more Ethnic Indian.
2) How long you are going, and how long you will have to tour around the country. Argentina is way larger and if you have plenty of time, there is more to see here. If time is a factor, compact Ecuador is easier to get around.
3)What sights are you most interested in? Argentina/Chile have Patagonia, Chile has Atacama desert/ Easter Island, Argentian has Iguasu falls. THey all have phenomenal mountain regions and parks and high altitude climbing peaks. Ecuador crown jewel is the Galapagos. Ecuador also has Amazon rain forest.
4) What is your budget? Ecuador is cheapest (outside of the Galapagos)

Good luck

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for the most cultuaral diversion and the country that you will bring the most life changing experience from I would go with Ecuador. If you're looking for some fun and are into the more european culture go to argentina, especially if you like beef! Chile is good too but I would go with one of the two i said. good luck and have fun! I'm going with CCS to brazil, you should check out that program too!

You could toss a coin and not go wrong on any but it determines you doing your homework.. Chile and Argentina get cold in the winter. Just do not say after you are there. I should of made a differnt choice. I think you are very fortunate to have this opportunity and they are all 3 good places
