The only way to get back to your natural (or near to your natural) in one go is to go to salon and have a colour correction. Colours cannot lift out artificial colour from your hair so unfortunately putting a colour on that is close to your own colour will not do a thing. You need to go to a salon they will put on a colour stripper (not bleach) it is specially made to only touch the artificial colour pigments. This will be on your hair until it lifts to the right degree, it may need to be applied a couple of times and the stripping effect can be a little alarming it looks very patchy for a start. Once the stripping is done then a colourist will apply another colour that is one shade lighter than the target colour because it will go slightly darker.
I know this may cost quite a bit because it is specialist work but it is worth it rather than all the hassle and bodge jobs that could happen at home and then you would end up at a salon anyway but with the stylist telling you to have it all cut too because its been damaged beyond repair.
I hope you get the results you're after x

I dyed my hair blackest black, didn't look like Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, but close. It made me like a junky.
If stripping is too expensive, Try shampoos which will drain a bit of colour out of your hair each time you wash it.Try:
Head and Shoulders
Vosene
Pantene Clarifying Shampoo (Clear Bottle).
The black will become duller, hard to get such a dark colour out from such light hair then you can eventually dye it blonde after a month and then again after a bit, if you dye it blonde all over now, you will end up with ginger hair, I assure you.
I am just letting mine grow out but my hair is dark anyway. Or you could try and make it look fashionable, look at that music video- Bad Day- Daniel Powter- The girl in there has black roots and blonde hair cut short, it actually looks good- seriously. Maybe you could do that, when it grows out go back to normal. But really, don't dye over the black dye it will get worse.

I had a similar sticky situation, its very annoying isn't it.I have naturally platinum blonde hair and was dying it very dark chocolate brown. My roots were always coming through,so when the roots started to come through again i went to the store and bought a similar colour to the roots and dyed my hair this colour. You can't really see the roots when they come through so just let the roots grow out.You won't notice a thing!

Wait till you have about 1-2 inches of natural hair growth and then cut all the died hair off, leaving you with your natural hair colour an a new look, you can always grow your hair longer again.

you would need to double process the hair. this involves stripping the hair of the black using bleach and colouring it as close to your natural strawberry blonde with a tint. its possible, but only in a salon unless you want ruined, orange hair!
good luck chick! i've been there, and it can be done! xxx

there are no products strong enough in the shops to get you back to your natural colour First get your hair in good condition try hair rescue products first to get the strength back into your hair ,then trust me go to a hairdressers maybe just have highlights first to tone your dark hair down this wont be as damaging nor drastic but getting your hair in good condition first is a must

shave it off and let it grow again this might take some time to grow back so you might want to stash some chocs in your bedroom you might not come out for some time by then you could have put some weight on which means then you could have a different problem. Or you could just buy some wigs or you could just leave it until the color grows out.

My grandmother used to be a maneger at a hair salon she said that if you want to go natural again then find a shade close to your natural color and to dye it and as it grows dye it again. until you like it .
