Don't be scared to allow things to continue for a while longer just as friends. From personal experience, the longer you are friends before dating, the stronger and cleaner the relationship is once it progresses to the dating stage.
That said, you can't wait forever! Give him a month or two to get over his last girlfriend, then start testing the waters of how much he likes you as something more than a friend. If he hints at all that he likes you, then there is nothing wrong with trying to initiate a dating relationship. Just be cautious in the way you ask him, so that just in case he says no (which he shouldn't if he's given you signals that he likes you), you can maintain your friendship.
One more thing, if you ask him out and he says no, but that he is still willing to be friends, make sure that you are not the one who gets angry and jealous and ends up ruining the friendship. Be strong! =)

In a friendship situation like that, it's always safer to let him make the first move. Because if he feels the same way about you, he will. Then you won't feel stupid that you try to rush into something he may not be ready for,and it might make your friendship alittle awkward .Think about it if he just dumped his girlfriend, and he hasn't made a move in your direction,it could be that he just wants to be friends. So leave it as it is for now and see what happens. Good luck

well dear sam first i admire you for want to ask a boy to a date because in the21st centhury thats not so bad viewed, youe kinda new woman of the new milennium, second a boy who has been broked up or who has broked up is easily to ask for a date and he probalbly say yes because he wants to start a new relationship, so ask him, he would say yes probably because he wants to forget about the past relationship, and well you have to take a risk, just remember that good relationships started as friendships

Take a chance, you never know what will happen. If you are really friends that wouldnt ruin your friendship.

Sit down with him, see if he likes you as anything more than a friend. And make sure that this question wont offend him either. And if he does. Well you'll hopefully be with a new man. And if he doesn't, well hey...you tried! And you STILL have a best friend!!!

Just take it slow. Talk to him..............tell him that your interested in him and you know that he just got out of seeing sombody else. Just be a great friend to him..........he might not want a serious relationship so soon. Don't be selfish..........let him breathe.

Ask him.He can only say yes or no.Then you will know .Who knows he might be your soul mate.He might even be shy and wants to go out with you.SO ASK HIM AND SEE WHERE IT GOES.
