You will have to make that decision. There are alternatives, however, like OpenOffice.org. It is free and handles Office documents and more. If you really need Word, Excel, and Powerpoint Office 2007 Student is fine.

Not necessarily. Open Office Suite from Sun Microsystems has an office suite much like Microsoft's except that it's free, and it has a presentation program in it. You could try it out and if it works, take back the expensive software you paid for and get your money back!

You could have just downloaded Open Office ( http://www.openoffice.org ).

It's free and comes with all the tools of Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 but they are all free and just as user friendly.

But appart from the price you payed, there isnt much difference.
