The class action lawsuits are already starting. Search on class action lawsuit ConAgra foods and you should find it.

Be prepared though, most class action suits accomplish only 2 things. The lawyers get rich and more Americans lose their jobs. The people who are actually suing usually end up with nothing better than a couple free coupons. Great system we have.

And you can get a refund for the peanut butter yourself, mail the lid (not the entire jar) with your name address and phone to the address on your peanut butter jar. (ConAgra Foods PO Box)

1.Save the peanut butter jar (especially the lid with the code beginning with 2111).

2. Consider contacting a lawyer.

ConAgra has given an address to send the jar top to. As far as I know, they will only reimburse you for the cost of the peanut butter. They have a new press release at their website.

Call the Attorney General's Office in your state and speak to the Consumer Affairs division. They may have some ideas for you. First write a certified letter to the company and save a copy. They may reimburse you if you show proof that you missed work. You probably will have to show a copy of a doctor's visit and have a letter from your boss.

Call the 1-800 number on the label. They will confirm the if the product is on the recall list.Don't throw it away. They will mail you a container for shipping it back to them(postage pre- paid). They have labs to confirm if it is tainted.

I believe that you would have to give them the production code from the jar so they can trace it and see if it came from the bad batch. If you already got rid of the jar then don't even bother.
