My boyfriend is Spanish and Penacostal and I'm kind of scared about learning about his religion. Is it true they call on spirits 'cause on what I witnessed last night they do and it scared me. All of his family speak Spanish and it's kind of hard to speak to them 'cause my boyfriend has to translate for me, but I'm taking Spanish classes next year. The event that I went to was a wedding last night for his aunt, then all these people in his family came up to my boyfriend and I asking oh so when are you guys going to get married it felt like they were being serieous but then I kept thinking they're just joking, cause my boyfriend is eighteen and I'm sixteen, but then I told my parents and they said that those people weren't joking. Then what made me even more unsure was there was a girl there who was ninteen who had two children of her own. My life is really different from my boyfriend's. We believe in getting a job and then marriage it's the other way around for them, but I don't know?

Is this spanish from spain or spanish like from mexico? Because people do marry young in mexico but now a days alot of kids raised in america follow the steps just like you said job work even school and then get married. Pentecostal religions do not call upon a spirt they talk to God for sure but no spirits. That would be like worshiping a saint and that is against the religion. If they are penticostal some people just worship diffrently than other religions and to some they think they get too carried away. But you would just have to get use to that if you love him. I mean you are really young to think of getting married right now. If the people are asking your boyfriend when are you guys getting married they might be serious. But you should also think about is he ready are you ready i say you guys are just to young to take that step you should at least date for 2 years and learn more about each other. Good Luck with him and his family and I comend you on you wanting to learn their language. Good luck again.

I dont think they were joking spanish people tend to be very religious and family orientated and do marry quite young. Im sure there are exceptions and i dont mean any offence to anyone. Just because your boyfriends family are that way doesn't mean that your boyfriend wants to marry you and get your pregnant and have you as a house wife as soon as he can so i wouldn't worry to much.

in pentecostal religion they do believe in speaking in tongues and the spirit moving through you and all, but as far as calling on spirits like something in witch craft, no i dont believe they do that, they just feel they can communicate through speaking in tongues (which sounds like gibberish to the rest of us, but hey i thats how they get down with the god then thats fine) if this isnt necessarily befitting you as long as they dont push their beliefs on you i wouldnt worry too much. and about the marriage thing...its up to you two when you want to marry so dont worry about being pushed into marriage. you can always say no if he proposes too soon for your likings. your thinking is right on though, get married after you get through school and get a career :)

Hey Girl,
Get out of that relationship and get a person of your own race, religion, and beliefs..
You would never fit in.

You have a nice day.
