He might be allergic to something in the lotions, Vaseline isn't really good for baby's face. Try corn-husk lotion some time, it does wonders for dry skin, my oldest daughter has very dry skin on her lower arms during the winter and has to us lotion all the time. The Vaseline doesn't allow the skin below to breath, so that could be causing some of the irritation. I would tone down as much lotion or moisturizing the face as much as you can, you don't want to over moisturize.
Another questions is does he get those all the time or just sometimes, if its sometimes, and he is breastfeeding he might be allergic to what you are eating. You might want to record that information and see if that might help.
Are the red bumps small?
If they are it could be a skin irritation to not getting enough air.
I would see your Pediatrician and see what he/she says. It might be something else... Not to make you worry.

ok, forget approximately approximately that first positioned up. it may be hormone proper...his physique removing mothers hormones from the being pregnant and his physique regulating his very own. maximum in all threat it incredibly is toddler pimples that's amazingly very difficulty-loose! My daughter had this besides on her face whilst she become a new child. My physician instructed me that it may be from 2 issues...a million) hormones and a pair of) i'm going to have been protecting her a sprint too heat. by using fact newborns can't sweat their ducts can get blocked if heat inflicting the purple marks. Now, I felt like the worst mom ever whilst he instructed me this yet he reassured me that that's amazingly difficulty-loose and intensely widely used...and that i become no longer doing something incorrect. Rule of thumb, make confident toddler isn't overdressed...whether it incredibly is chilly in the living house then an further gentle layer is okay or you could upload a blanket. As mothers we are afraid of them being chilly. do exactly what you experience is solid and while you're worried approximately those marks then be chuffed to make an appointment along with his physician. Congrats!!!

Sounds like it might be Eczema.

My nephew has Eczema, My sister had it when she was prego too.

I don't think vaseline is probably a good thing to be putting on your babys face, I would ask his doctor pronto about it.

It may just be baby acne. I use a stick called Teeny Faces by Gerber. It works well for my daughter. I use it on any dry patches my older children have as well.

this is normal....my daughter is 8 mos and she gets it on and off too. her cheeks are red, and her back is bumpy. just kepp it well moisturized. i prefer aveeno baby soothing relief moisture cream. it's thick enough to hold, but not greasy and hypoallergenic. plus the bottle keeps my daughter entertained while getting lotioned, she loves to chew it! lol. just watch for any irriation if it get really flaky or if it sems to be bothering him. good luck!

sounds like his skin is chapped, or it could be irritated. maybe its something hes eating (sensitivity to formula), or maybe even the detergent you use. If he develops a fever along with the rash, you should take him to the dr, bc it could be roseola.

Chapping.

Try using actual chapstick on him.

Apply it to the skin just as you would his lips. It works.
