look wine is fermented with fruit and no it doesn't have to be just grapes, brandies and cognacs are distilled from wine. Beer is fermented from grains. whiskey is made from distilled spirits (190 proof alcohol) and aged in barrels to add flavor and lower alcohol levels (America it's new charred oak barrels and in Europe it can be new or used charred oak barrels) and rum is made by adding yeast to molasses then distilling it 2 weeks later

Wines is usually only made from fermented fruit/Flowering plants.

Brandy(and Cognac) is wine that has been distilled.

Champagne is basically wine made a special way including the trapping of gases(carbon dioxide) made from the fermentation process.

Rum is made from fermented molasses.

Whiskey is made from fermented grains that are then distilled.
