I've read many Q's & A's on here about American gun laws and gun culture, which I have found interesting. One reason to justify the 'right to bare arms' that I have read is: should there ever be a day when the Government were a serious threat to democracy, freedom and liberty the American people would have a means to defend these values.

Do you think the time has come for the American people to use their guns to force a regime change in America in order to protect democracy, freedom and liberty?

The Fourth Amendment of our Constitution defines in essence the notion of privacy: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or Affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

What does it mean? It is very simple: the government cannot invade your privacy—your person, your home, your car, your business, and your papers—without a good reason. Of course there are going to be circumstances in which government can pierce that sphere of privacy: a probable cause, a reasonable suspicion supported by the evidence of criminal activity in your home, your car, your business, and your papers. But this cannot be done arbitrarily, whenever they want to and for whatever reason.

The USA Patriot Act, passed by the Congress in the aftermath of the tragic 9/11 terrorist attacks, contains provisions in violation of the Fourth Amendment and the limitation on government power it represents. Unfortunately too many of the law-abiding Americans think that it is not a matter of great concern to them. In reality, it should be a matter of great concern because it affects the liberties of all law-abiding citizens.

A provision appears in Section 213 of the Patriot Act, which is officially called “delayed notification.” People call it “sneak and peek” or “black bag” searches. Why? Because “delayed notification” gives the government power to conduct searches without informing you. Federal agents simply tell the judge, “It would jeopardize our case if we notified John Doe about searching his home.” Notice delayed; his constitutional right under the Fourth Amendment taken away. Americans along with other nation on the Earth need to sit up and have a close look at what their Governments are doing. For too long we have gone along with their telling us what to do.

Democracy is a great thing and we should do what we can to keep it that way. It is difficult to answer your question because I don't think violence it the answer, but when the government doesn't listen to its people, what are the people to do about it? The largest protest ever seen in London was against the war in Iraq, but Tony Blair’s government ignored the people and went to war anyway. Who runs a country, the free people or its dictators?

No. Our representatives in Washington are taking care of that.....

And - America doesn't have "regimes"...we have elected officials. Most of the time, we, the people make good choices - once in a while we elect a madman.... We reallly screwed it up this time and we will pay for our folly. But, there is a process to remove a sitting President from office and it has started with the non-binding resolution sent by Congress to the White House.

If you would like to see how it works, read how Richard Nixon was shoved out..... At the end, his only choice was to resign or be impeached and removed. They gave him the choice - and he left. Democracy does work, really -

The time has been here for decades. However, you cannot just have a bunch of guys running around with semi-automatic rifles to cause a regime change. In fact, it's not just a "regime" change that is required. It is the entire socio-economic system that needs to change. That is, what is needed is a world-wide, socialist revolution, following the politics of the Fourth International initiated by Leon Trotsky back in 1938.

I hope the time never comes when the government is taken over by gun toting citizens. I am afraid these buck-shot-carriers would crawl out from under any rock - especially in the state and county I live in. I am afraid of guns and the kind of people who carry them - many of them appear rather unsavory.

Government needs to removed if necessary only the lawful way - leave your guns at home and vote instead.

As the majority of Gun owners in this country are conservative republicans who support the president it is unlikely. The best reason to carry a weapon in this country is to protect your own rights liberty and pursuit of happiness. With so many Liberals portraying the criminal as the victim you can not depend on the courts for justice.

They would rue the day it happened if they did. Governments of the world need to sit and live with the electors and get a feel for the real world for sure to regain respect.

It is because of "regimes" like this one that you still have the right to own a gun. The commercial is over. Go back to watching CNN.

I do not know if the time has come to use force to change the American government yet, i believe that if more of the people eligible to vote voted our government would put more thought into its actions. also we need a bettor education system.
