I have a freind who is a woman. I want to buy her some clothes as a present. I asked her what sizes she wears. She tld me she is 5ft 6 in and wear medium clothes. So I went to store, and found out there is no such thing as medium jeans and medium tops. So the question what sizes do i buy for her? 8-9-10-12-14?

A gift certificate to her favorite clothing boutique. Seriously. Some women are in pretty muddy waters with these things and you don't want to do/say the wrong thing.
You can never go wrong with gift certificates.

medium is 10 i believe. if you get a size 2 big then she will think that you think thats her size and that shes fat. if you get a size 2 small then she'll think you are telling her to lose weight, so basically clothes might be a bad idea, and there is such a thing as medium woman clothes, but some clothes carry numbers instead.

Medium is the same as 7/8 and 9/10

Whatever size she is shops vary so much even in the same size. Either take her with you so she can try them on or get her a gift voucher. Although medium will be 12-14 at that height. But unless you know her very well I wouldnt risk choosing!

5 ft 6 in. you would have to tell us her weight. it would be hard to buy jeans. they are all cut different and you need to try them on. you could probably get a top or a dress but we would have to know size to compare with our size. you could try to look at the size in some of the clothes she already has if you could get that chance.

well i'm 5'8". myself i wear meduim to large tops. jeans, depending, 7/8 or 9/10 sometimes 5s. its really hard to be a guy and buy clothes for a female. so i suggest that you get her a gift card and let her do the shopping =]

I would buy a 8 or 9. They will probably be too small. But she'll be happy you thought she was smaller size.
Stupid I know but that is how girls think.

you are very lucky.....good for you to have a gal buddy. at 5'6" i would prob. go with a 9 depending on her size...and if you are not sure ask a sales lady, they will be more than happy to help you...or you could ask a lady standing near you about what to buy...be polite when asking a stranger for help in females clothing, for some can get right testy if you approach them wrong....and who knows you may get ya another buddy...good luck hope this helps

jsut buy her a 18 to be safe lol, no what you should do is estimate and then buy the size smaller so than even if it's to small she'll know you think shes thin and will be flattered if they don't fit she can return them just make sure they arn't cheap clothes or she will think ur cheap.

Find out where she likes to shop, and definitely go with a gift card. That way she gets what she likes, it will fit, but most of all its from you.
