What do you know about the Hindu caste system? What do you think about it? Do you think it should be abolished, altered, or left alone?

The caste system is misunderstood in my view or what i understand that people discuss .
In different ages before the present ( I believe in the system of Yug's,) It was felt necessary to differentiate the humans by the kingdom rulers in order to fulfill the various need of keeping the civilization in an progressive mode. Thus it was invented by the humans.
I feel that in the present age there is no need of the caste system as all are developed to a great degree of intelligence.
I feel that by discussing about a topic we only keep it alive. I sincerely feel that ignoring it this will find its own end .

The main aim of caste system was to bring up the society by disctributing work among people who does best.
This is very crude form and might sound very illogical to people of today, but in those days, people are very cool and accepting and no work was treated infrior and less paying.
In later ages, it became a dignity for people who waged wars and started mis-treating other people. This is dis-advantage of great idea, but the idea itself is not wrong, It just does not suit, the present humans.
Other faiths and even hindus just condemn caste system, without knowing the reality. I am not supporting caste system here, but little understanding will take away lot of pain, makes people come together and forget caste. There is nothing to hate or repent.

they still have that thing?
with priests/warriors at the top
merchants and artists in the middle
and the poor on the way bottom(untouchables)
its terrible.

It should be Abolished...Cause when we were studying it, it really was so horrifying....
Especially the Untouchables... if you know them..
