For instance one says "I haven't been keeping up with the news".
or "religion causes violence". But you cannot stop large scale movements/problems by spending time on an internet forum.
For instance if the U.S. government is corrupted by Christianity then spending time here ain't going to work.

So are some of you just venting your frustrations here?
Do believe that spending time here you can convert Christians or those sitting on the fence to atheism?
What is your intention?

I don't mean any disrespect to Atheists. I'm just very curious.

The beauty of atheism is that we don't have to waste any time trying to convert anyone to anything! Right now, I'm looking a vanload of Jehovah's Witnesses, parading their well-dressed children up and down our street, handing out their tracts. That's just sad that these children aren't out playing on this gorgeous day, or any other weekend day.

No one really cares if you want to worship a god in church or a rock in the garden. Just don't try to assert your beliefs on me through preaching or through the government. You do what makes you happy, as I will, as long as it doesn't impact anyone.

I disagree. Minds are changed one at a time. There are a lot of fence sitters in this forum. Many have been persuaded by arguments presented here. It also helps atheists see they aren't alone. There are a LOT more of us than any of us imagined before the Internet came along. We can be a force for rationality, education and peace.

If persuasion is useless, then why are you attempting it? Why do Christians spend a lot of time proselytizing?

I think despite themselves, some Christians might learn something about the defects of their religion, and in time figure out that it's false. It['s worth a shot. What else should we be doing?

On the other hand... If you believe that you are "called" to spread the "good news" then why are you wasting your time here on Y!A?
Do you really think that you are going to do any more good for your cause?
If you really think atheists are here because they are curious about christianity then you are sadly mistaken.
My intention is to bring continued attention to the fact that many christians are attempting to legislate their religion in to my laws and my kid's school and I'm mad as hell about it...

Yes, Christians do convert to atheism. I was once in bible college, soul winning, creationist, who believed with my whole heart.

But that's not why I'm here. I'm here because the christian religion dominates my culture. And it's harming my culture. I have, not the right, the obligation, to communicate with christians. To keep a dialogue going.

Well most of us have lives to tend to and we can't go running off to Congress to protest. So, we speak our minds the best way we know how. On the internet. And besides, how do you know that there aren't atheist groups out there that are trying to make a difference?

In America, we have freedom of religion! Some people believe in evolution, Darwins. There is no proof of anything in the bible. But scientist have dug up prehistoric skeletons. Personally I believe religion is a form of brain washing to control people.

before everything you will possibly desire to no longer use the word "evidence" gently to Atheists, tremendously considering that all of us understand actual evidence from pretend. Now, enable's anticipate that this internet site properly and objectively transcribes what befell and what replaced into discovered (which it would not). Assuming this is actual, it nevertheless would not coach, or strengthen the risk of God's life. It in basic terms proves that Jesus easily existed, that the bible replaced into properly transcribed after a century and a nil.5 of oral historic previous, and that folk easily worshiped him on the time. looking a text cloth mentioning that God exists and Jesus is his son would not make it so and is via no potential evidence. whilst human beings discovered the Iliad they did no longer use it as a evidence for the life of Zeus it incredibly is strictly what you assert. Now in assessment to you I did do study and it appears that evidently your source is partly actual. certainly, on a similar time because it relatively is actual that lots of the texts are equivalent to what we've in the recent testomony, different factors are dramatically diverse, meaning the Bible is the spawn of many diverse cultures and college of innovations via an prolonged volume of time, that throughout the time of this is oral passing down the Bible replaced and altered till it replaced into finally formally written down, it incredibly is a huge type of those Scrolls advise. right this is an excerpt from the Oxford handbook to Archeology: "of their impressive selection of textual variations, the Qumran biblical discoveries have introduced on scholars to re-examine the as quickly as-regularly occurring theories of the form of the famous biblical text cloth from purely 3 manuscript households: of the Masoretic text cloth, of the Hebrew unique of the Septuagint, and of the Samaritan Pentateuch. it relatively is now starting to be progressively extra sparkling that the previous testomony scripture replaced into relatively fluid till its canonization around A.D. a hundred." next time you have a question, i will anticipate you to do definitely study particularly of waiting for others to do it for you. yet basically in case i've got suggested the source so as which you would be able to examine it for your self.

I am here to be educated. I am here to educate the ignorant. I am here to point out how important it is to vote to protect our rights. We have freedom from religion in this country. You should not be allowed to force your idiotic religious dogma on me through our laws. I will fight that until I die.
