You say he started the universe with light already in transit. If so, he arranged that light so that it appeared to show us many very distant first generation stars that do not produce the heavy metals required for life.

This has led our astronomers to conclude that humans could not have exist until billions of years after those stars spawned second-generation and third-generation offspring.

Obviously we have been duped. Why?

God's a prankster apparently. Creationists believe that at one time God went around the world putting fossils down as a joke. He would say to himself, "Lets see who believes in me now! Man I'm a prankster! I'm the prankster god! Man I kill myself!"

No one has duped us.
God is a concept of our needs and wanting-for-source imagination.
As is the Devil. Evolution is what would answer your question, as time progresses and we learn.
But as for duping?
That is entirely a human reaction for feeling "left out on a limb".
We have been evolving from the beginning, whenever and whatever THAT was. So does everything else.
It is up to us to learn towards our edification in this universe through the continuance of evolution.

God did not try to fool us. The Bible clearly teaches that the world was created in a form that was already complete. The Bible tells us that the earth was created in a form that was ready to support life. The Bible tells us the plants and animals were created mature and able to reproduce. But the Bible also tells us that when the creation was finished, all of this was really only 6 days old (at the most).

Adam was made mature looking, but one day after he was created, he was only one day old. There is a difference between the actual age of the things created and the way they looked and functioned. God did not try to trick us because he TOLD US this is what he did.
