my dogs do the exact same thing. I think they just get mad because you are moving them. i would not worry about it all.

Dogs are very good at hiding pain. How old is the dog? If he is just grumpy at being moved he should get into a play full mood quickly. If ye just wants to lay down again and get comfortable may be he is in pain. The best way to determine is lay on the floor with him and run your hands over him massaging and probing all the time look deeply into his eyes. If there is a problem his eyes will tell you.

Lots of dogs are groaners. Some will groan as they settle. If he's groaning when you're moving him, perhaps you are moving him in an uncomfortable way. Practice a command for "move". That way, you can get him to move without touching him.

If that is not the case, it usually signifies begrudging acceptance. Much the same as a human might say, "oh ok fine, I'll move - but I'm not happy about it!"

If your dog is growling, then you have an aggression issue.

He could just be saying "careful" or "what are you doing" or "I don't want to be moved" or some such thing. Some dogs mumble at us regularly, just because they do. Answer him kindly and he'll be fine.

It could also be the simple mechanic of your forcing air through the dog's vocal cords by picking him up that makes a small sound without his intending to do so -- kind of like when you thump your brother in the tummy and he says "Ooooff."

He might just be fussy, like we are when we dont want to be bothered.I had a dog that did that. When he got comfortable somewhere, you best leave him alone. He thought he was human i think and shouldnt have to move unless he wanted. Also if hes a bit over weight, it might be a little harder for him to get moving, so you might check into that.

is he sleeping?
my mini-dach makes noises when you move him when he's sleeping. then he stops. no pain, etc, just noises.
as for deworming a dog, NEVER do it yourself. go to the vet.
