She's 3 - 4 years of age. My cats do have it but have not been active. My question is - did she have this prior to coming to my house or did she come down with it while she's been here? I do realize feline herpes is a latent virus but the duration and non-active state my cats are in makes me wonder if it was something she brought with her.

She came from a kill shelter (animal control) and my cats have very mild outbreaks - if that matters.

She might have had it already. The stress of moving into a new home could have caused it to flare-up.

FHV, or rhinotracheitisvirus has upper respiratory or sore eyes. much like the bacterial infection called chlamydia.. when every acat has acquired this virus it not uncommon for flare ups to happen, Zithromaxis really good to treat with. stress is the biggest factor in the flare ups, going to a new home is very stressful. i wouldn't be surprised if you other cat has a flare up, because bringing in a new cat is stressful to them. good luck with your new cat.
