The catholics and protestants have books which they use for different situations like birth, death, marriage, general sunday prayer, christmas, easter, etc.

Is it because their priests will not be able to pray appropriately for these services????

They are doing all this for foreign money. They get lot of money from outside the country. A book reading is not preaching.

Just the opposite, as a matter of fact -- it's so that priests WILL be able to pray appropriate for those services. I've heard some unbelievably silly things at weddings, funerals, and baptisms -- things that could have been avoided if the minister had been using established prayers.

And there is great comfort in the old familar words. How many people read Psalm 23 in times of trouble or sorrow? And who doesn't have a favorite passage that strengthens them and gives them hope?

I find great peace and comfort in the prayers and ritual of the Mass. They provide stability and hope even during the most difficult times.

There are many styles of prayer. Spontaneous prayer is fine but if people want to pray together, in a public forum, it helps to know the words and what to expect.
Have you ever closely read the words of these prayers? The words are quite beautiful. Many of the prayers date back hundreds of years. The beauty of going to a Catholic Mass with the Liturgical prayers is that you can go to a Mass anywhere in the world and, if you know the language spoken, you will feel at home since you know the words and what to expect in the service. This is not possible with spontaneous prayer.
