The active ingredients in Excedrin (not including the aspirin free type) are:
**Acetominophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol - non-aspirin, non-addictive, non-drowsy but can accumulate in your liver if you use too much or you have a liver disease which prevents your liver from metabolising it properly - do not use if you drink alcohol)
**Aspirin - non-addictive, non-drowsy but is a little rough on the stomach and acts as a blood thinner - do not use if you have any GI bleeding, sensitive stomach or are on blood pressure medicine without checking with your doctor)
**Caffeine - This helps the other two medications metabolize into your system a bit better than without it but can make you jittery, raise heartrate and bloodpressure and irritate your stomach if you have any stomach issues right now.
Excedrin works extremely well at relieving headaches and should not alter your mood or be particularly addictive. As with any medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist to be sure it will not interact with any current medications you might be using and do not overuse and you should be fine.

I'm 16 ad I take excedrin for my migrains. Defintally don't take it if you don't have migrains. It contrains alot of caffeine and I know when I take it i usually cannot fall asleep. No it doesn't help with emotional pain. It can make your stomach hurt from my personal expeiernce if you take it and don't need it. It is very powerful. I'm sure you can addicted, but only if you take extremely large amounts. You can get addicted to tylenol also, but as I said only if you take it everyday and over the recomended dosage. If you take too much tylenol, you bruise much more easily because ti thins out your blood.

Get to the root of the problem. What is causing you to feel depress? Learn about clinical depression and if you do not have clinical depression than find something enjoyable and productive to do with your life. (be active on something, do not just seat there and pity yourself). All over the counter medications are bad for you because is extra work for your kidneys and liver. Medications should only be taken when needed, at minimum dosages and for the shortes period. Every medication is good for something but also has side effects that are not very good for you over time.

Excedrine is a brand name for aspirin. Yes, it has it's potential risks, but so does absolutely everything.
Tylenol is acetaminophen, and again, it has it's own potential risks.
ANything, absolutely anything, including plain water, can be abused. But that can have far more to do with a behavioural problem with any given individual than with the substance being abused.
