Spoon feeding mean someone (or many people) doing ALL the work for you. If you are automatically given all the answers/ solutions/ results without having to figure out on your own how to get (to) them, then you'll end up knowing only that someone else can provide you with what you want or need. You certainly won't know how to think for yourself. And, worst case scenario, you'll always have to depend on (the kindness, patience, availability, willingness, whatever of) others.
One of the most important things anyone can learn is how to think for him/herself. Parents, teachers and other educators are there for that purpose: to give examples, guide and inspire but certainly NOT to spoon feed.

Think about all those students who put their homework questions onto 'homework help' - some want a calculation doing that they ought to be capable of, some pose tertiary-level questions that deserve thoughtful essays (e.g. 'name three advantages of a floating exchange rate' or something like that).
Suppose that they're given the answer. (I would call this spoon-feeding). They are none the wiser; they wouldn't know how to work out a similar problem; and heaven help them if in class they're called upon to explain their answer. So nothing has been added to their knowledge or wisdom (except, perhaps, that some people are foolish enough to give them the immediate answer).
Does that help?

I think of 'spoon feeding' as being given everything you have, not working for anything. It is maybe saying being given everything you have will teach you nothing about using your own resources to get what you need?

Spoonfeeding only teaches spoonfeeding.
You live what you learn.
To learn what you live, live what you learn.
The student learns more in the journey of discovery finding the answer rather than having the answer handed to him on a silver
plate. The ultimate goal is not the nugget of knowledge, but the knowledge of how to learn.

when everything is given to us on a plate and we're brought up to only understand the views of those that raise us, all we really understand of the world are those views, we end up with closed minds and no individuality

I ask you the following questions:
Where do following items come from?
Hamburger?
Sausage?
Bread?
Coca-Cola?
if your answer to any of those 4 is simply 'The store." then you have been spoonfed those items.

If you're given something all your life, you'll only know what has been given and not what its lie to earn it.
