that is very hard to chew??? I work at a nursery school in Spain (I´m Dutch) and they expect the 2 year-olds to eat this..I think we´re making things difficult for everybody...I try to cheat (throw away the meat of the kids who are having most trouble) but the lunch is together with the other teachers and the headmaster and the policy is that food can not be thrown away and that the kids should eat all the food, willing or not..and some teacher literally open the mouths of the kids and shove the food inside...which I refuse...

I work in a daycare in the US andas i qupte your words "some teacher literally open the mouths of the kids and shove the food inside" this is considered child abuse i am not sure about the laws a regulations in Spain but i would get into contact with the law makers that are incharge of child safty. th US has Child Youth Services (CYS) that we would contact about something like that.

This is awful, your nursery is clearly a horrible place to be, especially around lunch time.

As I said in my answer to your other question, if the head thinks this is OK and won't listen then report them to the authorities. Children should NOT be force fed. Are there other things you are uncomfortable with? Write them all down and send a letter to the authorities. Keep a daily diary of all the unpleasant things things that happen, which you can show to the authorities if you need to. You might feel that the only ethical thing to do is to warn the parents.

If the head finds out what you are doing you may loose your job, but don't panic too much about that. You are showing that the children are your top priority and any other nursery should recognise this and be happy to offer you a new job. If you are very worried about that then find a new job now and report the nursery once you have moved, but of course you might want to stick around and support the children as best you can.

Good Luck

The kids can definitely chew - give them hard candy, and see how they demolish it happily! for some reason they are less motivated to chew meat. What bothers me is the forcing food down - not really the type of food. The concept of forcing mouths open and shoving food down is disgusting, and will breed a disfunctional generation...
find a new job, and before quitting take the list of address and tell the parents about how the kids are treated. Take pictures - otherwise you will not be believed.

Child protection institutions exist also in spain. If it is as bad as you say, it is child abuse.

Poor Babies... I would tell the parents .. that is absolutely ridiculous
Force Feeding is child abuse
I would not expect a 2 year old enjoy these types of food .. steak ?
My jaws hurt sometimes when I have to chew on it so these baby's must really be frustrated
I would focus on the danger .. a child can very well choke on steak if it is not chewed properly .. Maybe alert the headmaster of the dangers of force feeding the children they could easily choke
and then the school would definitely be in great trouble

Forcing kids to eat by shoving food into their mouths?? That's child abuse!! Also, kids should be eating things that are easy for them to chew and steak isn't one of them. Here, in the USA, steak is expensive also. I can't see why people would want to spend that kind of money to feed their kids. Also, kids aren't supposed to have fish before age three!

I believe that food is a battle that we don't need to have with our children. I am sure that if certain fathers were to see their children being force fed, something might just change. Surely one of those kids have a big strong teddy bear of a father, that would go out of his way to protect them from abuse. That is what is happening here. Physical Abuse. you should focus your attention to making sure they get extra servings of the healthy vegetables, and fruits they need to live, a child only needs a few serving of meat a week, and I am quite sure their parents are taking care of that.

I think you should feed the kids, not throw away their food. A two year old CAN eat foods that are hard to chew. If you are concerned- speak with the parents or cut the food up into smaller bites.

Are the childred CHOKING on the food? If not what is the problem?

Ink fish? Eww. I'm well past 2 yrs old and i've never had it. They should be eating softer foods tho. Those are both rather tough meats to eat. I would talk to the parents

Well I thought this sort of treatment of children was a thing of the past.
This is child abuse plain and simple.
Does spain have child protection laws? if so activate them.
