Why do you get so upset when some zealous Christian talks about hell and damnation and tries to convert everyone?
If some guy told me he saw a space alien from Mars who was eventually going to destroy earth I'd laugh and be on my merry way. I wouldn't waste my time with such a lunatic. Nor would I try to convince those who believe his claim otherwise. Who cares?? After all Jesus was a lunatic since He claimed He was God and God doesn't exist? The Bible is fake... etc. I certainly wouldn't spend my time on such a forum as this.

Do you think Jews are inferior and deserved the holocaust? Would you be upset if someone went on and on about how they all deserved to die?

"Hell" is like that. Even if its pretend, it doesn't make it any less a horrible concept. Condemning someone to torture is STILL condemnation.

Apparently you don't keep up with the news.

Ask yourself this: if some guy who said that he saw space aliens from Mars who were planning to destroy the Earth were elected President, and the vast majority of his Cabinet and advisers also believed in those aliens, as did most of the Congress and state and local politicians, as well as most of our military, and every small town in America had well-funded and influential organizations of these believers who met regularly to seriously discuss these beliefs...would you still "laugh and be on your merry way"?

The President of the United States - a man who is also Commander in Chief of the largest military in the world - claims that God talks to him through his toaster and tells him how to use that military. If that doesn't scare you, it should...

...even if you do realize that the part about the toaster isn't true. Removing the toaster from the picture doesn't suddenly turn it into a wonderful example of rational thought.

have you ever heard of Pascal's wager? How am I meant to respond to this once I have not have been given any theory what i'd do if that occurred because of the fact i can not even think of it? some all people is only no longer able to perception or faith devoid of any data (be conscious that i did no longer say "evidence" - I mentioned "data") for that perception. i myself bear in concepts the 1st time I questioned the assumption of God - i became into 7 years old and we had only left the synagogue after the centers. I asked my Dad - "How is it achievable for some massive guy to stay in the sky and we will not see or hear him? Why does not this guy communicate over with human beings now like he became into alleged to do a while in the past?" From then on, i became into no longer a believer and fifty six years later, i'm nevertheless no longer a believer. yet whether i became into, i does no longer have self assurance in the insecure, vengeful, and stressful entity that Western society has arise with. i do no longer see all this as something greater desirable than you wagging your finger on the damaging, benighted atheists who do no longer see issues like yu do.

There are 2 issues that you will need to separate: the factual content of the existence of hell (and damnation); and the insult intended by the person who is damning you to hell.

It's not the factual content that is in question here. It is the insult. Worse yet, it is a cowardly insult. A cowardly insult is one that is given in the name of someone else (god) or some other authority (bible) rather than personally.

Example: (Hypothetically speaking). I believe in the FSM as the god of the universe. You don't. When I curse you in the name of the FSM to burn in the universal frying pan with mashed garlic for all eternity when you die, you can:

1) feel the hate, the cowardly insult
2) still not believe in the FSM.

Get it?

"If some guy told me he saw a space alien from Mars who was eventually going to destroy earth I'd laugh and be on my merry way."

Now imagine that there are TWO BILLION people like this running around... making laws, indoctrinating children, trying to restrict the rights of others, and hating certain minority groups based on their beliefs.

Because the alien lunatic doesn't try to control my actions and tell me what I can and cannot do. Christians attempt to do this through society and government. So, it's necessary for equality to challenge Christians at their myths to show their weak position, in order to make all people eventually free. Onces all Christians resemble your alien lunatic, we can ignore you guys.

I find it annoying when people try to convert me, but it isn't the end of the world.

I get upset when they try and teach their beliefs in the public schools, change the laws to promote their beliefs, and display their beliefs in the political world.

When you Christians try and convert me, I do exactly as you described. I walk away from you lunatics.

1)They are insulting
2)They are annoying
3)They try to enact laws to make everyone believe and think as they do.
4)They are dishonest
I could continue.
If I lived in a muslim dominated country I would oppose those that followed Islam too.
Religion is a poison to the minds of men (and women).

There has to be some sane people here. Think of the young people here who could be corrupted and brainwashed by your hate filled fictional book called the bible.
