I just found out I have a warrant for my arrest for a bad check. It was only a $20.00 check, and I did not know it bounced; I have overdraft protection so I don't know how that happened. I haven't had a job in 7 months and have no income whatsoever, but I would like to get this taken care of. I was wondering if a arrest warrant shows up on a criminal background check whenever I apply for jobs? That could be why I haven't gotten a job yet if it does.

You need to check with your state and local laws,
it appears as though it maybe available to potential employers. You need to find out why the bank didn't honor your overdraft protection.
Keep your statements for proof of such protection. Also, some banks will only pay so many overdrafts and then they stop.
Good Luck.!
Be up front with applications and in interviews and take your proof of protection.

Arrest, conviction of offense is big deal for students
by Joe Good

Many of us were a little more adventuresome during our undergraduate years—there were frat parties, keg parties and tailgating.
Unfortunately, many of us met our local law enforcement officers and were introduced to our state’s judicial system. If we were lucky, we were offered a pre-trial intervention program. We did a week or two of public service and the charges were dropped. What we did not realize was that unless we petitioned the court to expunge our records, we may still have an arrest record and perhaps a conviction record.

Yes, it shows up as a FTA, Failure to Appear. You will have to find the place where you wrote the bad check, and pay them for it, and the $25 fee most places have for returned checks. If you do that, they will likely remove the warrant. If you aren't working, and they won't remove the warrant, they will likely allow you do community service at $6.00+/- and hour until you pay the fine off. Or, you can serve time in the county jail to pay it off. Each county has a formula for how time served equates to $'s.

But, it won't go away until you do something about it. And, it will show up on places that do background checks.
