Or was that Zeus and Athena in Illiad, sorry so confusing, the one mythology seemed to have ripped off the other.

Favorite part of Job - I was just rereading it the other day. The bit in chapter 38 where god is bragging to Job about "well, if you're so hot, did YOU know how to make the earth" and he says in verse 35 "Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?"

Such a cute Disney-meets-Zeus image

No Job is about this: God allows evil but is not the author of it. Satan, the devil inflicts pain - not God.. That's an important distinction, because it upholds what the Bible consistently says about God. He is utterly good and righteous. Second, Satan is limited and restrained by God. Were there to be a cosmic "face off" God would be the absolute and immediate victor. He hasn't done so yet - there's the quandary - but these introductory chapters of Job do not leave any doubt as t who's in charge

The first chapter of Job has God and Satan arguing over who gets the soul of Jimmy D. It was a close battle, but I think Satan finally capitulated and let God take you.

Actually, it was more like, "You created him. . .now YOU deal with him!"

No, but it's funny that God brags a lot about himself in that Book. In one verse, he brags about battling the giant sea serpent. Funny that God would have to battle an animal to prove himself. (Hint: this is proof that the Job story is stolen from another myth)
