there now. my laptop says it is vista ready for the program change. do i have to make a back up disc, and clean install the vista? i am computer dense when it comes to this stuff. maybe i should have someone else install the program.

Please don't take this as rude but you should take it to a shop. its cheap, only about 40.00 at most shops and they back up their work. The Geek Squad is reasonable.

first of all dont install vista over your windows xp media center
if you dont have the back up cd then everything will be gone when you install vista over your
windows xp media center .than means all the pc driver and the software that came with your laptop and
windows xp media center is gone and your system restore cd will be no good to you best thing to do with vista is to install that onto a back up hard drive or partion the one you have so you can have windows xp media center and windows vista
