What can you tell me about Switzerland?

Hi all,
Soon I want to take a trip to Switzerland and I am curious about the things that are important for each tourist :)). Like the interesting places, do I need a visa(I am from Bulgaria btw), do the people speak English, whats the crime rate, is it expensive, are the people kind...and so on... :)

I LOVE SWITZERLAND. It's such a great place. And no people don't really speak English. Mostly German. And the crime rate is very low. And it's not that expensive. Especially compared to the Euro. You only need a visa if your going to be there longer than 3 months. I suggest going to Mt. Titlis and taking a cable car 10,000 feet in the air. Than once you get 1/4 of the way down, rent a bike and ride down the mtn. It was the funnest thing I've ever done. And the scenery everywhere is wonderful. Interlaken is also so beautiful. Hey guys! heavy crime is low, but pick pockets are everywhere. Not from Swiss ppl, but from asyl & comers! They just steal from those what you call tourists! So u still have to take care of your wallet!

If you are at tourists place, such as Lucerne, Interlaken or business area in Zürich, Geneva. Many people speak very good english there!!!

Narrow down which parts of Switzerland you wanna go!

I disagree with above answers, I lived in Zurich for 3 years and I can say from experience that you might feel some sort of racism in shops or restaurants. I am a white Brazilian and felt many times discriminated in Switzerland for being Latina. I was married to a half Swiss half Indian guy, who suffered a lot of racism at school and still is many times treated as a non Swiss just because of his darker color skin. Service in Switzerland is anyway very poor, so sometimes you might confuse the unfriendliness with racism. I should not generalize tho, as there are lots of nice, polite and open minded Swiss people. Just wanted to advice you about the facts and my tip is just dont take it personal and have fun, but in case someone mistreats you, just give him/her ****. cheers

hi....
Switzerland basically devided into 3 regions that speaks German, French and Italy....although not very fluently, mostly can understand English specially when you go to tourist areas...
I would prefer German speaking region and Italy compare to French speaking Swiss...I found that they are more arrogant somehow....(sorry no offend)
Crime rate....no worries....its much safer than Italy, Paris even London...
Interesting places:
1. Lugano (must see old town, lake)
2. Montreux (lake side view .....fantastic)
3. Zermatt, Saas Fee (Ski Resorts)

You have to:
1. enjoy wines, cheese, chocolate, dairy products, local food (raclette, fondue)
2. Skiing!!!!!
3. Take pictures

It is a beautiful country in the EU! You are on the right track about your proposed trip to that place! Check with the local consulate about visa requirements!
