You can use the site: www.holisticvetlist.com and enter a zip code to locate a member of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. Be aware that there are no "standards" for acreditation for these vets. They are simply members of the Association.

The Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy does not have a web site for an easy search. The Academy is located in Florida and you can call them at 302-652-1590 or write to the Academy at 751 N.E. 168th Street. Also they say you can email them at: avh@natualholistic.com for a list of veterinarians who are practicing homeopathy.

A holistic vet is vastly different from one who limits his practice to homeopathy. "Holistic" is a very loose term - it may mean a vet who tries other remedies than conventional allopathic drugs to treat animals, it may mean the vet uses chiropractic or acupuncture to treat animals, or one who is trained in Chinese medicine.

To get some basic understanding of the homeopathic approach you can go to: www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hofve's article titled "Introduction to Homeopathy" or to the site of Dr. Jeff Levy at: www.homeovet.net. Dr Levy has precribed remedies for two of my cats who have cancer and as he is in MA and I am in CA our consultations are carried out by phone. He has never "seen" my cats.
