Is this 'view' still relevant? What are the modern conceps of the illness and it's causes? How far are we from a cure?

For the statistics. My father was a bully - hateful, and my mother still worships him. She thinks I am useless because he tells her so. In the outside world people tell me that I am a hard worker and intelligent, even a good friend. I walked out from my home after being beaten by my father at the age of 17. I do not suffer from Schizophrenia.

Freud believed that Schizophrenia was repressed homosexuality. He also had a lot to say about father / daughter relationships (Elektra complex) so look to him.
