I am an agnostic myself and live a totally non-religious life. But if I am wrong and I meet my maker and he/she/it asked me why I didn't believe, I guess I'd say something like "Sorry, but I just didn't see the evidence. I preferred to rely on logic and proof and you never became apparent through those. But I think I lived as a pretty good person anyway."

If it is the Christian god I'm meeting at the end, I'll tell him that even if I had known of his existence, I wouldn't have worshiped him. He's an evil god.

Well if you listen to the crazy Christian right it doesn't matter you're going to hell no matter what you say. Same with the Muslims so either way you are screwed. The Eastern religions don't really believe in a heaven in the Western Sense or really a "god" so it wouldn't matter if they are right. So either way it's kinda pointless to think of an excuse why you chose to not believe in a higher deity. But if you are worried about it you must deep down believe in it. Remember an Agnostic is someone who is not sure and an Atheist is a person who completely denounces any spiritual belief.

I would say: why couldn't you stop the Evangelicals? And the meat-packing industry? How could you allow the Holoucast? Why did you send a flood to New Orleans instead of Colorado Springs? Why didn't you help the children being kidnapped and trafficked into the US for sexual slavery? And the slave ships? And Focus on the Family? Warren Jeffs? Why did you make him? Abraham Lincoln and JFK would have been really helpful to have around, God. And, what do you think about the 700,000 dead Iraqis? Nazis? The Taliban? Retarded children? How about the Klan? Darfur? AIDS? Female Genital Mutilation? Crack babies? Did we deserve all that? And why do you require so much "worship" and "submission"? What would you do differently next time, God?

I would say something similar along the lines of:

Sorry. I lived my life in a rational manner, using my intellect to discern what is true and backed up with supporting evidence over pure conjecture. I am happy with my life, and I am glad I did not make the wrong decision in worshipping the christian god instead of you, Zeus. I kept myself neutral based on the evidence that you chose not to provide.

I'd say you didn't provide evidence. I acted with the best information available to me. If you wanted my love, you should have told me you were there. I will not apologize, because I do not feel I made a mistake.

If that God is so judgemental as to banish someone to an eternal hell for MORTAL sin, especially one as silly as not believing in him, I have no interest in being anywhere near that God. How could I love that God? Fear him? ok. NEVER love him. I'm not a slave....I don't need to apologize.

What if there are multiple Gods, as it appears religion started out. If a creator, or creators, makes all evidence point against all organized religion, with thousands throughout history, ad condemns those who choose the wrong one, making heaven nothing more than a lottery, I would not have any thing to say to them.

Even though I am non organized religion, I am sure god did not put me here to play hide and seek with him. God does not need money, Church's need money. I always do the right thing with the right ethics. I do not need another human being to tell me what to do because they say that they have a special hook up with God when they do not know any more than I do. We are only here to learn.

For reasons of clarity I'll answer your question using the Christian God. First, I would ask why, if he is all powerful, we have so much pain and suffering in this world. Second, I would ask him why he led so many of his followers, or allowed his followers, to murder others in his name, and how is it possible he is a good God with these actions in mind. And last, I would ask him, "Were you freaking drunk when you created the platypus? What the hell is that thing!"

God is magnanimous, an all knowing entity. during judgment day, He would knew whether you lived according to His will. It is common to all religions "Do good and avoid evil" and in so doing you will be with Him as well as other believers they be catholics, buddhists, muslims, etc. See you there my friend. If you now doubt the existence or non-existence of God, you are in the right path.

Oops? Doesn't really matter because I know without a shadow of doubt that I am right. There is no god(s). Man created god in his image, not the other way around.
