I think you may mean that five mins of skipping may burn similar amount of calories to 20 mins of jogging. In reality you need to do a minimum of 30 mins of Cardiovascular exercise to HELP lose weight and maintain any weight loss.
Good luck

No, skipping for 5 mins a day is not enough, you need to do at least 20-30 mins of cardio training a day, 5 days a week at 50-60% of your max. heart rate to loose weight and get fit.
Like Warmnjuicy says, 5 mins of skipping burns the same amount of calories as 20 mins of jogging.
Having said all that, if you are currently doing absolutely nothing (fitness-wise that is), then skipping for 5 mins a day will already be beneficial to your health. But like I said above, 20-30 mins of cardio training is even better, you unfortunately cannot get fit by taking the easy route.

this is bogus....it is a lie. 5 minutes never equals 20 minutes. Keeping your heart beating and muscles moving for 20 minutes is much than 5 minutes and is 4 times the fitness gain. There are many misconceptions about fitness out there and this is one of them. 20 minutes of any exercise is much better than 5 minutes of another.
