I can't stand loud or even different noises. Whistling, subwolfers, cars on highway, birds chirping, ect... This started about the time I turned 18 (I am 30 now) I have to sleep with earplugs. Has anyone out there had the same experience. What can I do about this? Is it some kind of fear or have I just become extremely anal to noises.

I have been the same all of my life even as a child but it's gotten worse as I get older, it could be a problem with your hearing but it could just be that you're hyper sensitive. Have a look at this website to see if it's relevant. It changed my life.

Sometimes a sensitivity to loud noises can indicate a need for reduced stimuli. There is usually a real reason behind that need, so exploring the need can help you find the real answer to this problem.
