Should you be afraid of your Father?
Of course not!
Why?
Because you know He loves you more than anything else in the World!
Should you fear His Wrath, when you do something wrong?
Of course you do! Because you know you hurt Him more than you hurt yourself! Because you Love Him and you can feel His anguish and pain!
Because you Love Him , you Respect Him, you need Him to be with you always... You need to fear losing Him!
But, you do not need to Fear Him, because, after all, He is your very own loving Father!
All the best!
Cheers!

The word fear is Revere.
To have a relationship with God based on fear is improper.
Respect and admiration is the way to be.
If you are afraid it is not good.
Why? You do not truly believe in your heart that God does love you.
You do not perceive that His perfect love is directed towards you.
That you have believed the religious teachings from whatever church you have gone to.
There is a verse in the Bible that could perhaps help.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
You would fear if you did not believe He paid for your sins.
Once you believe He paid for you, You now have no fear. Why should I believe? Because it is written that He did and I accept it for myself. OLAY!
The word perfected means finished--completed. A done deal.

In the bible it says many times that you should fear God, but fearing him, means Respecting him, respecting him to know he is always right, just, holy, almighty, all powerful, the alpha and omega, the beginning to the end and so forth...you should fear God in a sense that you know he can punish you for your actions but he is only punishing you because he loves you and knows what is best, it is just like a father, and child relationship. But you should never be afraid of God, but fear him (respect him) and come to him in your time of need, for love, acceptance, and to be able to come into his presence filled with grace and glory.

I dont think we should be afraid in the sense that we know the fear of a bully or a cruel parent for example, but our fear should be more of awe and utter respect for God as our Creator and finally our just judge.

No, God loves us. Just try to live correcting your sins, thank God every day for the life and world He has made.
I know personally without God my life would be a worthless hell.

i do not think there is a god, but i am sure you have heard the expression "good god fearing christian" fearing god is suppose to be a virtue, i am sure there are some liberal Christians who will also tell you that you should not fear god because god is all loving, but the bible also says he is a wrathful god who kills little children (yes it does) but then again who are we to question god?!...... we are people who must make our own moral decisions and not make choices out of fear... but though justice and compassion...

Matthew 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 - And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

you can be afraid and happy at the same time.you should fear Him as He is all-powerful.as far as i see about God,i know that He is a kind, loving God who just wanted us to be good and not try to do something very evil that will soon make us regret about it a little too late in life.He also acts as our Saviour, trying His best to save ourselves from sin and from falling to the side of Satan. He wanted us to have happiness in eternity in His Mighty Heaven in the afterlife too as He does not wish to see us suffer eternally in Hell.He will always try to help us despite what we have done no matter what.sadly enough, those who rejected Him and who have sinned far more than most people have to end up in Hell and have to suffer in torture and grief for eternity without hope and mercy from Him as they deserved it for all the evils they have done to His precious creations on Earth.thus, earning their eternal punishment in Hell for their many sins.but dont worry, not many will wound up like that.i believe that there are people who are nice and dared not take such a risk.and i do believe that many of us will always be welcomed into His Heaven eventually.

If you were invited to visit the President (of U.S.A.) or any other head of state FOR WHOM YOU HAVE A HIGH REGARD, what would your attitude be when in his (OR HER) presence?
I would be on my "Ps and Qs", ensuring that I follow protocol, and at no time showing any disrespect. How much MORE should I have this kind of attitude for God!!

You should be afraid and at the same time hopeful. When you do a sin you should be scared of his punishment but at the same time repent and know he is the most forgiving and have hope he will forgive you.
