My mom's name is Thalia and everyone loves it. It is a name that is classy, has some history, and is not heard often at all. By the way, my mom is a wonderful, strong woman who is admired by many... if that sways your dicision in any way. Good luck with the name, I hope you find one that fits perfectly!

I personally like the name Thalia. Ultimately it will be your decisions. Some questions to ask: How does it sound together with the first and last name? What is the meaning of the name. There are a lot of great places on the internet to look up name meanings. What does the first letter of the first, middle and last name spell, hopefully nothing bad :) It is also important to pick out more than one name. When you new baby arrives one name may fit better than the other depending on the temperment and look of your child. Hope this helps. There are a couple of good articles on baby names at http://pregnancy.more4kids.info/

Thalia was one of the Greek muses. (comedy). I've known two people named Thalia. One pronounced it with a long a and the accent on the first syllable. The other pronounced it with a short a and the accent on the second syllable, and as if it was spelled with a T instead of a Th.
If the baby is male, you'd better try something else.

It sounds cute to me, but then as you will notice, I have an unusual name myself.
Personally, there are two things to keep in mind when naming your child.
1. Are you comfortable with the name no matter what anyone else thinks? I've been told that one of my grandmother's objected to my name when my parents told her what they named me.
2. How will it be pronounced in relation to the way it's spelled? I say this because the vast majority of people have no clue as to how to pronounce my name due to it's spelling and while I don't mind, in some cases it can be cause for serious confusion.
Anyway, I hope this helps and good luck.

I really don't care for that name. My aunt and uncle live on Thalia Street in Laguna Beach! My daughter is having a baby in 2 months and we went through the name choosing for quite a long time. I sympathize with you and understand how important the name is. You might want to do a *search* online for baby names if you haven't already. Another option is to search for names that reflect your baby's nationality such as *Irish* etc. Good luck to you but I hope you don't honestly use Thalia for a name. :(
