my little girl likes the sippy cups by nuby that have the soft silicone top and handles. we tried all kinds before that, but she didn't like any of the others. they're at walmart, for about 2.50 each

The best sippy cup to use would be the basic one with the spout and I would start by putting water in it first and then put milk in it at every meal. When they are 1, they are still weaning from bottle to cup but they will eventually get it, especially when they are really thirsty. It's a self-help skill that will happen. Just don't replace the sippy cup with those with a straw. Once he/she starts using the sippy cup and does good with holding it, take the lid off and only put a small amount of liquid in it.

I agree with the other answers that a sippy cup can be difficult to drink out of if they are spillproof. But if that is not the problem, try this. My little girl would not take a sippy from me. So I had her grandma offer her one. For some reason, she took the cup from her. So try getting someone else to give her the cup instead of you. It's a long shot, but worth a try.

I had trouble with my daughter when she was younger to get her on a sippy cup as well. She pretty much went right from a bottle to a cup actually and then back to the sippy but only when we were out. I agree that the leak proof ones are just to hard for them especially at first, so take the stopper out or buy one that isn't leak proof. Just be patient and try different ones, also try explaining to your little one about becoming a big kid, this always helped my daughter get excited about new things.

It will take some time to get used to he went from a bottle all his little life to a cup. My sugjestion would be to take the bottle away during the day most likely he will cry for it but thats the price you pay at night I would continue with the bottle for now until he is comfortable drinking out of the sippy cup. Good luck Mommy!

what I did was I had a spill proof Playtex sippy that had the two handles on the side. My daughter wouldn't take it, so what I did was I filled up juice or milk and took the stopper out so it was free flow and I took the cup and tipped it in her mouth so she got a taste of what was in int and she kept wanting more, and then I'd put the stop in it again and let her know that it's the same thing. Within a week she got the hang of it. Just go back and forth. Obviously, every kid is different.

For my little girl, I mixed about 1 Tbsp. of sugar-free fruit juice to about a 1/2 cup (roughly) of water. The extra hint of flavor enticed her enough to keep sipping. My son, now 9 mo., doesn't have much of an interest in the traditional sippy cup, but he goes to town when using the spill-resistant straw cups (Playtex makes a "Stage 4" cup that is great, and Munchkin makes one that is even better at resisting spills and drips). If you're game, try a toddler cup that uses a straw instead of a traditional spout cup. It's working well for us!

Try the "Nuby" sippy Cups. They are at Walmart and they have the soft spout that makes the child feel like it is a bottle. After he gets used to that then move him on to a harder spout. It was an easier transition for me and my son.

If it's an issue of transitioning from the bottle, I'd try Nuby sippy cups. The soft silicone tops make it easier for them to suck.

the sippy cup i recommend is the nuby sippy cups with the plastic nipples. my Daughter started on those at 12 months old and loves them. she thinks they are her baba, she is now 17 months of age.i gave her the sippy cup at meals and the bottle at bedtime and naps..... but then she got to where she took the cup to bed and to a nap.
