Be nervous is normal, and it keep you in "alert", don't worry your not the only one at the table who feel that way. Take your time for each of your decision, Play tight for the few first rounds of the tourney,Tournaments require discipline, you don't want jeopardize your tournaments life at the beginning of it, the longer you are going to play on this tourney the better and more comfortable you should feel. Analyze your opponents and during each step, be aware of any significant changes at the table. Tournaments are all about survival. Ask yourself, how is your table image. Keep in mind, your ability to focus for a long period of time is necessary when playing tournaments.

Remember that there are plenty of other people just as nervous as you. Play premium hands at first, nice and tight. Get a feel for the table, watch the other players. Then after you calm down a bit get involved in some good hands.
Good luck.

The best way to do this is to prepare yourself. If you have a game plan and are confident in it the nerves go away. So, the best solution I can offer is to learn everything you can about the game, and practice, practice, practice.

I also get a little bit of the butterfly's before a tournament but once it gets underway i am at home. Just take it easy, its not like your going to get killed if you don't win, all you have to worry about is losing your money yikes.....

Play a cash game first... A low stakes and easy going table would work out best.
