So here's the story...we have a new assistant manager. He's around my age so I think he feels like he's better than me because he is an "assistant manager"..but that's besides the point. So it was a busy day, and i've been standing on my feet 7 hours straight. So 15 minutes before we closed I told him I wanted to sit cos I've been standing all day and my feet hurts. And he told me to buy better pair of shoes that is more comfortable. I told him to try to stand for 7 hours straight..he'd be complaining too. Then he said "I DONT GET PAID TO STAND ALL DAY". I thought that was very ignorant for him to say that. My coworkers think I should tell my Manager. But I dont want to be a snitch. I'm not that type of person to tell on somebody. Oh and by the way, my Manager talked to my Asst mgr about being cocky before...so this is nothing new. Sooo my question.. should I tell or not?

If you think you could tell your manager without your assistant manager finding out that it was YOU who complained, then I say do it. He could say something along the lines of, "I'm getting some complaints about your behavior", etc.
There's no excuse for idiots like him, but you'll run into them the rest of your life in the business world. The problem is that he could potentially try to hurt your career, and he may succeed.
There's an old adage that goes, "Be careful of the toes you step on today, for they may be attached to the a.ss you kiss tomorrow."
A jerk like him may get fired, or he may rise to be a top corporate executive, and you may find yourself working under him, another time, in another job, if you plan on staying at the bank.
Just keep it in mind and tread carefully.

You should try to get evidence of this persons low work ethics. This may take some time, but if you rattle the cage, it may get you into trouble. It sounds like the Mgr & the asst are in cahoots, maybe. It's hard to deal with management faultiness, I know, I was fired over a similar situation. You're just going to have to be patient, until you can get the goods on this crappy person. If you get fired, be sure to file for unemployment benifits!!

you shouldn't be standing for more than 7 hours straight, you should have had a lunch break. you only had to wait 15 minutes before you close and you want to sit? are you sure you're not challenging your assistant manager because he's the same age as you as you mentioned in your opening line?

I think he is rude, full of himself and lacks empathy, compassion and has no business being an assistant Mgr. The problem is that if you go over his head, he sounds like the type that would make your life miserable. I would keep a record , date, time and place of any inappropriate remarks that he makes to you. If he is consistent, then I would go to the Manager and tell him!

I have a close friend who was in the situation almost like yours. And he tried to stand up for himself by being reasonable and did not taking crap from work. And few months later he was got laid off...So you should think twice about what you are going to do? To me it seems like the management is always right, even though I believed what you told. If he found out you are a snitch, it might be like hell at the work place for you.

Maybe you shouldn't ask him. At the end of the day, if you have a chance, just sit. If he reports you to the Manager then you can tell your manager what you have just said here. Including about this guy playing games.

Tell your manager. This won't necessarily turn you into a snitch, unless you want to play games and at the same time want to be "nice" to this fellow. Chances are that you make yourself and the rest of your coworkers a favor by getting rid of this assistant!

It's indicative of extremely lousy managerial skills. You might want to consider finking before the guy gets promoted. Not in a he's-a-jerk way, but in a he-can't-'manage' way.

He is abusing his title and privliges. It sounds like he needs to be demoted or fired. It seems like He is 2 faced and treats people under him like dirt. He wont change unless somebody does something or stands up to him. If he doesnt have the capability of firing you or he has to get permission from someone you trust to fire you than stand up to him. He will probably have more respect for you.

You worked 7 hours straight...? the law is that...after 6 hours you are to take at least a 1/2 hr. lunch break...and, you are supposed to get two 15 minute breaks, make sure you take your breaks,,,and rest your legs when you do...
I am sorry to say, but you knew the job description when you were hired...that is that...no one wants to hear anyone complain especially on the job...and, the best way to get ahead at your job is for your boss to like you..really..it is..
sorry, but, this is the way I see it..
if hes doing a bad job...then, its up to his boss to discover this..or human resources...not you.
