My yard is only rocks, no grass. The problem is my neighbors walk their dogs past all the other houses in the neighborhood and allow their dogs to relieve themselves in yards. While they do pick up the remains it is still unsanitary as I have small children who occasionally like to "collect" rocks and should be able to do so from their own yard. How can I make my yard more uninviting to dogs without having to confront each individual dog owner.

I think putting up a sign saying you just sprayed some type of poison Keep Pets Off rocks is a great idea. I walk my dog and would not take that as an insult if I see one. I would definately keep my dog away from that yard and walk accross the street instead.

I think you should discuss the problems with your neighbors. Honestly, as long as your children wash their hands before they eat they aren't at risk for developing parasites from the dog feces. But, it's your yard, and if you don't like it you should say so. Making your yard uninviting to dogs will probably make it uninviting to your children as well. If you refuse to discuss the problem with your neighbors, maybe you could line the perimeter of your yard with shrubs. Then, the dogs wouldn't be IN your yard.

About the only way you're going to stop other dogs from coming into your yard is to put up a low fence. It won't keep neighborhood cats out though...

You can buy "Cat-Away" and "Dog-Away" spray, but it's going to take a lot of it to cover an entire yard - It's also toxic, so not good to use around small kids.

Hi. You can go to petsmart or petco and buy dog repellent. It is not harmfull to plants and won't kill your grass it emits a smell that dogs dont like and will stay away from. We use it to keep our dogs away from digging spots and it works well. It's relitivly cheap and comes in sprays or in pellets. I hope I helped you some.

A sign? "Good neighbors curb their dogs" or something like that? Nothing too confrontational - at least your neighbors pick up. But they probably just aren't aware / aren't thinking about your kids playing there.

I would say something to the neighbors - this is just bad manners on their part.
Then put a sign up - saying "Please don't let your dogs do their business here!"
They will know who they are & they'll be embarassed & stop.
