How to encode DVD region codes?

How do they encode the region codes on dvd medias? Is there a downloadble software to do this?
I'd like to learn to make home dvds that are only playable on certain dvd players.
Please help...thanks

It would ONLY be US players that this would affect as FOREIGN players automatically DEFEATE the US Censorship process!
